In late 2022 I decided I wanted to be able to connect USB peripherals like maybe an SSD or pen tablet or large ergonomic keyboard to my Pinephone.
I liked the idea of attaching a powered USB hub and putting any number of different things on there to the point it was as "peripheral-capable" as a desktop computer, even if it was only so powerful.
However, I had the "braveheart" release or v1.1 board, where USB host functionality had become broken.
I combed through all the information I could find about the pinephone v1.1 board and how some adept circuit board experts had apparently fixed the board with a soldering iron, in order to produce a short "manual" that would at least come very close to explaining how to understand a pinephone board and perform this fix.
Then I brought the "manual" to local computer repair places to see if they were able to do it.
The task proved to be very hard and not something very many people could do (!), so I did not get to fix this phone. I ended up simply ordering the late 1.2b revision of the pinephone where the USB area of the board is supposed to have been improved.
[I may report back later to add whether that one actually worked]
